Roberta Kraft-Abrahamson

Roberta Kraft-Abrahamson has been associated with RSVP of North Central Iowa for 4 years, serving in a variety of capacities. She has been a Blood Drive volunteer, a Reading Buddy at Forest City Elementary, a Reading Coach at Forest City Middle School, a Conversation Partner at Waldorf College and an active member of the Advisory Council as well as a member of the Baby Boomer Advisory Team. Currently she is the chair of the Advisory Council, but has also served as secretary and vice chair in the past.

Roberta retired in June of 2002 and started volunteering almost immediately. She states, “While I had volunteered for numerous organizations over the year, my busy work schedule prevented me from doing some of the volunteer activities that I really wanted to do - like RSVP.”

Roberta most recently served as a school social worker before retiring, but also spent time working with the Department of Human Services as well as a caseworker/family therapist for a private social service agency. Her background - rich with service - provided her valuable experience in helping people that carries onto her volunteer work at RSVP.

As Baby Boomers are highly educated and busy people who enjoy projects that utilize their skills, Roberta is no exception. She states she enjoys the flexibility and the variety of volunteer opportunities that RSVP offers. Now that she has more time for volunteering in the community, she is also active with Hospice of North Iowa and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the AEA 267 and the Board of Iowa Guardianship Inc. through Opportunity Village in Clear Lake in addition to her volunteer responsibilities with RSVP.
